The winter has been treating us well here in central Kansas, with some much needed moisture being brought in the form of snow and ice.  Hopefully, we will see some run-off for our ponds which were dry for most of last year.  Getting the ponds dug in the pastures last summer was needed, but the loss in hay production due to the drought has put us short on hay stocks for the remainder of the winter.  Calving will begin soon with the heifers calving in early to mid Feb and the cow herd calving in March.  The Dazzler bull is in use for Dr. Jim and Beverly Freed, and they have been pleased with the bull so far.  Hat?s off to the Fischer family in Great Bend Kansas, being honored with winning the National Western Stock Show earlier this month.  They are a great family.

Our wheat pasture is currently under snow, and hopefully will have enough growth to serve as spring forage for the cows prior to turning them out on grass in April.  Will keep y?all posted in the next few months with calving updates and hopefully some pictures of the Dazzler calves.  There will be a select group of Connelly Frontpage X Shorthorn calves as well.
